The General Directorate of Registries, Notaries, and Identification (DGRNI) is the Cape Verdean government entity responsible for organizing and managing civil, commercial, property, and identification registry services. Subordinated to the Ministry of Justice, the DGRNI plays a crucial role in regulating and issuing official documents, such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as personal identification documents, including passports and national ID cards. Through its actions, the DGRNI aims to ensure the security and authenticity of registration and notary processes, promoting transparency and compliance with the country's legal norms.
In addition to registry and identification services, the DGRNI works to simplify and modernize administrative procedures, aiming to offer fast and accessible service to the population. In partnership with other entities, the Directorate has invested in the digitization of services and the creation of electronic platforms that allow citizens to request documents and make inquiries remotely, facilitating access to essential services. This digital transformation aims to improve process efficiency, reduce bureaucracy, and strengthen citizens' trust in Cape Verde's registry and identification services.
